Photo Friday: Ellen Lanier and Susie Taylor



Susie Lanier - Taylor (with calico dress) and her mother Ellen Mixon - Lanier (white long-sleeved dress). Both of Autauga County, Alabama sometime during the 1950's. Ellen Mixon - Lanier was born on 1 July 1885 granddaughter of former slaves Alec and Ellen Mixon. On 20 January 1904, Ellen married Tom (Thomas) Lanier. Tom and Ellen had two children, Louis and Susie. Ellen passed away in 1967 at the age of 82. Susie passed away in 1999 at the age of 94.

I have ancestors from autauga county who are on the 1880 census named Stoudemire as neighbors to the Mixon family do you have and connection with this family?as

Thank you for your question Dee. I would have to look a little further into this. There are Mixons' all over Autauga Co., AL. My Mixons were Alec/Alex/Alic and Ellen Mixon, their children and grandchildren. Ellen Mixon-Lanier was listed in the household of her grandparents Alec and Ellen in 1880. I'm not sure If I have a connection with yout Stoudemire's or any other Mixon's in Autauga Co. You can contact me at familygriot@yahoo.com anytime to further discuss this issue.
