Thomas and Edward Hinyard 58th USCT Soldiers


Thomas Hinyard and Edward Hinyard, the great-uncles of Will Washington, volunteered to serve in the U.S. Colored Troops during the Civil War. Thomas and Edward served in the 58th USCT Infantry originating in Natchez, Mississippi from February 1865 to April 1865. For their service, Thomas and Edward appear on the African-American Civil War Memeorial in Washington, D.C.

Several men from the Mississippi communities I research, served with the 58th Infantry. They served well.
