Photo Friday: Ellen Lanier and Susie Taylor

Susie Lanier - Taylor (with calico dress) and her mother Ellen Mixon - Lanier (white long-sleeved dress). Both of Autauga County, Alabama sometime during the 1950's. Ellen Mixon - Lanier was born on 1 July 1885 granddaughter of former slaves Alec and Ellen Mixon. On 20 January 1904, Ellen married Tom (Thomas) Lanier. Tom and Ellen had two children, Louis and Susie. Ellen passed away in 1967 at the age of 82. Susie passed away in 1999 at the age of 94.

Due to life circumstances, The Family Griot will be suspending this blog until further notice. It has been a wonderful journey researching and writing about my family, developing research techniques and connecting with other African-American genealogical and historical researchers and most importantly, learning about myself. In the upcoming weeks I will be posting papers and records that I've collected over the past few years, mainly for family members who would like to see the documentation from my research.
