Mississippi Monday: The Little Professor of Piney Woods

While grabbing a cup of coffee this morning at work in a fellow co-workers office, I happened to browse a book on his shelf "The Little Professor of Piney Woods" by Beth Day. I giggled a bit and asked what he was doing with this book in his office. Being the book addict that I am, I couldn't resist asking to borrow this book.

"The Little Professor of Piney Woods" was written by Beth Day and published by Julian Messner Publishing in 1955 shortly after a tornado destroyed many of the schools classroom buildings. The story is of Professor Laurence Jones and how he founded the the Piney Woods Country Life School in Rankin County Mississippi in 1909. Professor Jones is the grandfather of Radio One CEO and founder Cathy Hughes.
